How do I make a Rafting Tour Reservation?
After 32 years of providing excellent Kern River rafting experiences on the Kern, it was exceptionally hard to decide that MRA would not open for rafting tours this summer. It's going to be a quick one! And to help you stay connected to the Kern and give you the "one stop shop" that you have come to rely on, we have partnered with two outfitter-friends here on the Kern to continue our seamless outdoor adventure experience, as a booking agent just for you.
Email MRA with your party size, ages of your children, preferred date(s), and trip preference (1/2 day Class III or Overnight tour) and we will match you up with the Outfitter we think best meets your needs. MRA will receive a small commission, at no extra cost to you, which will help us get through this unprecedented time just a little bit easier. If you happen to call another Outfitter directly please use the code, "Book MRA" and they will know we sent you!
2020 Summer Rafting FAQ's
What are water flows like this summer?
Water flows are super fun, and not overwhelming. Rafting will be splashy with a lot of opportunity for paddling this year. With lower flows you don't have that extra current pushing you downstream, so be ready for a good paddling workout!
How old do my children have to be to raft the Lower Kern?
Kids needs to be at least nine (9) years old, depending on the trip. If your child is almost nine and is a surfer or water expert, you know your child best. It really comes down to their emotional readiness for an out-of-boat experience. It happens. We want everyone to have a great time. If you are in doubt, choose the conservative route for their first experience. They can always come back next year for a bigger challenge!
How has Covid-19 changed rafting tours in 2020?
Group size: Each group must have a minimum of FOUR paddlers. We cannot raft with smaller groups. We cannot blend groups (CDC guidelines). Get your close friends or family to join you! No exceptions.
Food: No more buffet-style meals, riverside. Meals are individually pre-packaged. This requires more staff time and many precautions. The food is delicious and so is the precious time on the river!
Have prices changed because of Covid-19?
Even with of all the added precautions, protective gear, smaller group sizes and added staff to prep meals we are still maintaining our normal 2020 rafting tour pricing. Please do not ask for discounts.
