More Trails Open Up!
Updated: Oct 20, 2020
On Tuesday, October 14, 2020 the Sequoia National Forest announced that more recreation areas are now open. Here's what we found out. Please share this Blog post with all your riding friends so that we can get the update out quickly!
What trails are open?
The Trail of 100 Giants is now open! The Forest website has not been updated, and we have confirmed that this attraction is now open and accessible from Mountain 99/Sierra Way which goes right past Mountain & River Adventures Campground.
Just Outstanding mountain bike trail remains open.
And Sherman Pass Road is open, up to the intersection of Cherry Hill Road.
For mountain bike riders antsy to get on Cannell Meadow Trail, here is your chance, but only from Horse Meadow. You still get 23 miles of riding on this EPIC trail! Cannell Meadow Trail information and maps.
What mtb shuttles are available right now?
MRA is NOT offering mtb shuttles this Fall due to Covid-19 occupancy restrictions, and because Sherman Pass Road is not open at the top. Our shuttle service will not be available for Cannell Trail nor Just Outstanding shuttles. We are so sorry to have to share this disappointing news. Please use the trail/map links above if you self-shuttle. See you all in 2021 for some epic riding!
What will the Forest open next?
Only U.S. Forest Service staff can answer questions about when or if any currently closed recreation areas will open up this year. Staff at MRA do not have these answers or predictions. You may contact Joseph Martin, Acting Recreation Officer on the Sequoia National Forest - Kern River Ranger District @ (760) 549-9533 with questions.
How long will MRA Campground be open this year?
If you are looking for camping this Fall, our campground will be open through mid-November, possibly a little later, depending on weather. Check out our campground map and availability online, at your convenience.
