Updated: Sep 4

The recent Sequoia National Forest closure order, dated Tuesday, August 31, 2021 was issued "to better provide public and firefighter safety due to the ongoing California wildfire crisis, USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region is announcing a temporary closure of all National Forests in California. This closure will be in effect from Aug. 31, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. through September 17, 2021 at 11:59 p.m." (read order)

How does this Forest order impact camping guests of MRA Campground?

If your 'go to' relaxation thing includes blue skies, puffy white clouds, high temps in the 90's and low's in the 60's, and private beachfront river access, then camping and river play are just your thing! The recent national Forest closure order does not impact private campgrounds like Mountain & River Adventures Campground, we have campsites available beginning Monday, September 6 2021; reserve online, any time!

How does this Forest order impact mtb riders in the Sequoia National Forest?

Until September 17th, mtb shuttles to ride Cannell Trail are on hold.

We know! We are bummed too!

We will keep you posted as any updates come. We will also keep you posted about the state of our beloved Just Outstanding Trail. We know the French Fire took part of this super fun trail, we just aren't sure how much. We do know that it will not be accessible for the next 1-2 months, depending on clean up from the fire.

We are very grateful to all the firefighters and emergency responders who battled the #FrenchFire so bravely!

We are equally thankful for clear skies, only a tiny hint of smoke in the air, and great river weather. Remember, the recent national Forest closure order does not impact private campgrounds like Mountain & River Adventures Campground.

Does this Forest order impact highway access to Kernville? When the French Fire was active near Wofford Heights, CA a portion of Highway 155 was closed, however that closure was lifted. All highways leading to Kernville, CA are open and accessible including Hwy 155, 178 and 395, at this moment.

Here's a little 10 second mental health break to help break up your day. We look forward to seeing you soon!
