FORKS OF THE KERN

RAFTING ADVENTURES

FORKS OF THE KERN

Class V: Experienced Only

Rafting the Forks of the Kern is the best way for you to explore the Sequoia National Forest and Golden Trout Wilderness. We do this trip right, even the shuttle ride is part of the experience as we wind through the Sierra and stop to explore some old-growth Giant Sequoias. The headwaters of the North Fork of the Kern River originate at Mt. Whitney and plunge forty miles to the confluence of the Little Kern River. There, in the Golden Trout Wilderness Area, we begin our Forks of the Kern rafting trip. Yard for yard, no other river we run surges with as many waves, holes and hair-raising hydraulics as the Forks of the Kern. The scenery is magnificent, with granite spires looming to the West, and waterfalls plunging straight into the river. The Forks of the Kern descends about 60 feet per mile providing one of the most continuous and exhilarating white water trips available in this country. This trip offers participants a view that is breathtaking and beautiful in this canyon with 1,000 foot walls. After the first waves and rapids slap you in the face, your adrenaline starts to go to work. Each trip takes you past crystal clear waterfalls, and allows you to paddle big, challenging rapids. Removed from civilization, there are no roads and no cars, just the sounds of the river and wildlife. Your senses adapt, and soon you are listening in anticipation for the roar of the next challenging rapid.
