Two Glorious Days on the Lower Kern River

Our two-day Lower Kern is the ultimate in Kern River trips. This trip has the perfect progression for beginning paddlers and eases you in to a little more challenging white water by your second day on the water. The first day starts off with plenty of class II and III rapids that allow the crews to hone their skills before dropping into some rapids that will get everyone ready for bigger water the next day.

The second day allows paddle crews to challenge themselves through a series of eight class IV rapids. We pause for an excellent lunch along side the river and even stop at a jump rock where guests can plunge into the river from new heights. This trip is perfect for those looking for new experiences to share with family such as a family reunion, a way to reunite the whole clan, settle your pace down and just have some time for reconnecting with each other in nature. We love helping parents, grandparents and grandchildren spend quality time together, in the outdoors.

Our two day trips make very unique birthday, bachelor or bachelorette celebrations. And if you don't have a special day in mind, just pamper yourself on our extraordinary two-day Lower Kern trip.

Welcome to a glorious two-day river trip on the thrilling Kern River!

What can you expect during this premiere two-day river experience?

At our welcome center, we get everyone started by placing overnight gear in our gear trailer that is driven to camp, while we are out having fun on the water.  After a short shuttle ride to our river put-in, you will receive a safety talk from the trip leader and a paddle talk from your personal boat captain.  It is now time to paddle!   After a couple hours of “nice and easy” paddling through Class III rapids, we stop riverside for a well deserved deli-style lunch.  Lay out on a rock and soak up the suns warmth.  And then choose from a feast of deli meats, cheeses, about 30 different toppings, fruit, chips, nuts, drinks, and just enjoy a bit of relaxation time.  Share stories of your first morning on the river and get acquainted with your fellow paddlers.

After lunch we run more Class III rapids and hone our skills in preparation for the next day.  We usually arrive at camp around 4pm where the gear trailer is waiting with our overnight gear.  Your guides will help orient you to camp and shortly after arriving they will begin making some snacks and refreshing cold beverages.  Happy hour will be around 5:30 and we serve freshly prepared hors d’oeuvres and icy-cold beverages.  Feel free to pack along your favorite beverage!

Guides will serve a fabulous dinner around 6:30, dessert around 8:00 and if you’re up for it, provide some engaging entertainment around the campfire.  This is where the quality time with family and friends truly begins. You are beginning to unwind and let go of your every day stresses. Relax and enjoy our quiet, riverside camp setting stocked with lots of amenities; bring your fishing pole, play games, what better bonding time with loved ones?  At night, enjoy more stars than you may ever see; we love our dark skies.

Our second day begins with a fresh hearty breakfast. Then, we pack up personal gear, and get ready for another day of white water. We start running Class IV rapids right away before getting to the Class V Royal Flush, an exciting, heart pumping portage, just from hearing the thunderous water roaring by—thank goodness we walk around this rapid.  We stop for another fabulous lunch and gear up for a series of Class IV rapids called “The Big Five”. The rapids come close together and we end our day navigating Pinball, an intricate, demanding rapid.  At Democrat beach our trip ends and our bus driver greets you with a cold beverage and then takes you back to our Camp check-in center. A five star ending to a glorious two-days on the thrilling Lower Kern! Oh the memories...
