Class III/IV Oar Rafting Guide School -
Based on interested. Dates to be announced.

For everyone, beginner guides welcome (download flyer)

This course further enhances your understanding of the river, and teaches the art of rowing.  The course covers proper river navigation, safety, rescue and etiquette.  Taking the course is not required to become a guide for MRA.  The course is recommended to further hone your guiding skills by maneuvering a raft by yourself with oars and by understanding the differences between guiding a paddle crew or rowing.  Besides learning the art of rowing, you will learn rigging your raft, ferry angle selection, line selection, shipping oars, etc.  Instruction begins on Class I, II, & III whitewater then may progress to Class IV when students are ready.  You’ll learn advanced skills to guide friends, family, and/or commercial guests down Class IV rivers confidently, and learn how to minimize the risks.

  • Lunches only ARE included with this course. There will be sufficient time to have your own breakfast and dinner.
  • You will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course.
Preseason Price per student $334.75
