On the Lake and On the River

“Kayaking and SUP or Stand Up Paddle Boarding is a great way to explore Lake Isabella and The Kern River.” – John Rea Guide for MOUNTAIN and River Adventures Kayaking and SUP Adventures

Imagine gliding across the sparkling water on Lake Isabella, exploring the nooks and crannies along the shore with a birds eye view of fish while standing on your Paddleboard, or kayaking in one of our single or double (2 man Kayaks). The lake is a great place to fall in love with the water on a hot summer day!

Step up the excitement and learn to control your craft down a the class III section of the Kern River (some experience required, depending on water level)

Adventures We Offer:

Lake Kayaking:

Lake Kayaking is a relaxing way to explore the lake. Our specialized lake Kayaks track well through the water and are fun to explore the shores of Lake Isabella.

Lake Sup:

Another great way to explore Lake Isabella is on a SUP or Stand Up Paddle Board. Requiring some balance SUP and be a fun and challenging way to experience the lake.

River Inflatable Kayaking:

Similar to their larger cousins the Raft, Inflatable Kayaks are like a one or two man raft that makes for a fun way to control your own craft down our class III section of the Kern. This is a popular option for the more adventurous looking to get a little more splash out of the Class III trip.

River SUP:

Have you ever dreamed of surfing on the river? River running on a SUP does have some similar attributes to surfing, however there are other skills at play. We are finding that a lot of surfers in the Southern California area are getting a kick out of SUP on the river.

River Tubing: (low water seasons only)

Tubing our class III section during a low water season is a great way to cool off on a hot summer day!

(Note: due to the amount of snow currently in the Sierra we do not expect the Kern to be a low water season. We never recommend tubing on the river unless in safe and appropriate conditions.)
