Old State is a great introductory ride! Emma Lane a local to the Kern talks about her personal experiences riding on Old State.
“I can remember back when I less than 5 years old, riding tandem with my Dad. The best part of this ride is when you finally come around one of the bends and beautiful Lake Isabella comes into view. The ride begins at the top of Alta Sierra, you are riding through a tall forest of trees with the smell of pine as you ride. As you begin your descent the terrain around you changes into high chaparral and your ride finishes out with high desert shrubbery.” – Emma Lane
You can do the Old State ride as a guided ride (Sunset Cruise) or self-guided as a shuttle!
Our most popular mountain bike trail is by far the Cannell Trail!
This is a self-guided trail ride. You will definitely need to do your
homework before riding Cannell. And buy our map!
Challenge yourself on this epic descent, and be rewarded with epic views!
For intermediate to advanced riders only!
Trail starts at 9,200 feet.
Four to seven hour ride for most. Never ride this trail alone.
